Department of Children and Families (DCF)

DCF is composed of a specialized set of services that strengthen the ability of the family to protect and care for their own children, minimize harm to children and youth, and ensure timely permanency planning. TEAM Early Care & Education

Center Based offers programming to children 6 weeks to age 3 that addresses needs in the areas of education, health, nutrition, mental health, family well being and family engagement. Income guidelines apply and family fees are determined on a sliding scale.

Valley YMCA Child Care Center

Valley YMCA Child Care Center offers programming to children 8 weeks to age 3 that provides weekly curriculum with age appropriate activities highlighting science, music, movement and a variety of learning centers as well as an outdoor playground.

TEAM Diaper Bank

TEAM Diaper Bank program provides diapers and wipes for third trimester pregnant mothers and children birth up to age 4 who meet the eligibility requirements. The program’s goals also include raising awareness of diaper needs for young children and providing information & referral services to ensure needed support and linkages.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

The WIC Program, provides supplemental foods, health care referrals, nutrition education, and breastfeeding promotion and support to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

SNAP is a federal program that helps millions of low-income Americans put food on the table. SNAP provides timely, targeted and temporary benefits to people in need so that Americans have access to nutritious food. To receive SNAP benefits in Connecticut, household income and other resources have to be under certain limits and are reviewed. For some households, there is also an asset limit.
